The Wonders And Conveniences Of Audio Conferencing
|
Compunetix, Inc. recently announced CONTEXWeb, an Internet-based audio conferencing toolkit that enables conferencing customers to monitor and control their conferences via the Internet with nothing more than a standard web browser. Network MCI Conferencing plans to use CONTEXWeb on a trial basis in the first quarter of 2008 and intends to provide its customers with Internet-based services enabling them to manage their individual audio conferences as an enhancement to network MCI Conferencing's existing audio conferencing service in the second quarter of 2008. With CONTEXWeb, network MCI Conferencing customers will have the unprecedented ability to control their audio conferences in real time via the Internet, thus enhancing the quality of their conferences and minimizing planning and monitoring time. CONTEXWeb is another outstanding product from Compunetix that network MCI Conferencing is proud to trial in the conferencing services. CONTEXWeb is a turnkey solution for industry-standard, web-based conferencing. Using CONTEXWeb, the customer can access a CONTEX bridge by connecting with an Internet service provider and by running a standard browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. Once connected, the browser displays controls that allow the user to build, manage and monitor conferences over standard phone lines. CONTEXWeb exemplifies Compunetix' continued commitment to the growing audio conferencing market. The Vice President and Division Manager of the Communications Systems Division for Compunetix, Inc. stated that they are very excited to have an innovative industry leader such as network MCI Conferencing as a customer for CONTEXWeb. CONTEXWeb is an application of the Compunetix CONTEX Toolkit, an open Application Program Interface (API) that permits complete access to the award-winning CONTEX Teleconferencing system feature set. CONTEXWeb provides access to all of the functionality and capabilities to control or monitor a conference. With CONTEXWeb, the remote user can perform many functions, including: -- Dial-out to parties and create new conferences. -- Register the chairperson's audio phone number and initiate connection. -- Select parties from a personalized phone directory. -- Activate preset conference lists and blast-dial participants. -- View conference activity. -- Mute or unmute conference participants. -- Monitor/conduct question-and-answer sessions or voting sessions. -- Disconnect parties and terminate the conference. In addition, users are provided with many functions of a standard conference call: -- Dial-in participants can join the conference with a pass code and/or pin. -- Service bureau operator can provide assistance at any time through touch-tone commands. -- Participants can self-mute their lines or initiate security lockout. Compunetix CONTEXWeb has important advantages over other Internet conferencing systems. First, because CONTEXWeb links a web browser directly with a full-featured CONTEX teleconferencing system, all conference control functions are available to the remote user. This allows computer-savvy users to initiate and manage their own conferences conveniently. Second, conferences built from a web browser are visible to all service bureau operators on the CONTEX Bridge. Therefore, participants in conferences built from a web browser can have access to all the services offered to standard service bureau attended and unattended conferencing. For example, any individual participating in a conference built from a web browser may signal for operator assistance. A service bureau operator will then respond to request and offer the required assistance. Network MCI Conferencing provides multipoint bridging and a single toll-free number for reservations and support. The strategic business unit of MCI Telecommunications Corporation is a leading provider of conferencing services, which currently include audio, video and document conferencing, equipment sales and support, as well as tele-management services to complement customers' electronic meetings. |
